Which parts are suitable for vertical machining centers?

Vertical machining centers are suitable for processing parts with complex structures, multiple processes, high requirements, and the need for multiple models of ordinary machine tools and numerous tool fixtures, which require multiple clamping and adjustment to complete the machining. Its main processing objects include box type parts, complex surfaces, irregular parts, and disc sleeve plate type parts.
Box type parts generally refer to parts with more than one hole system, an internal cavity, and a certain proportion in the length, width, and height directions. These types of parts are commonly used in industries such as machine tools, automobiles, and aircraft manufacturing. Box type parts generally require multi station hole system and flat machining, with high tolerance requirements, especially strict geometric tolerance requirements. They usually need to go through processes such as milling, drilling, expanding, boring, hinge, spot facer, tapping, etc., requiring a lot of cutting tools, making it difficult to process on ordinary machine tools. There are many sets of fixtures, high costs, long processing cycles, multiple clamping and alignment, and manual measurement is required. The cutting tools must be replaced frequently during processing, The process is difficult to formulate, and more importantly, accuracy is difficult to ensure. When there are few processing stations and the span is not large, a vertical machining center can be used to process from one end.
Complex surfaces play a particularly important role in the mechanical manufacturing industry, especially in the aerospace industry. It is difficult or even impossible to complete complex surfaces using ordinary machine tool processing methods. In our country, the traditional method is to use precision casting, and its low accuracy is imaginable. Complex curved parts such as various impellers, guide vanes, spherical surfaces, various curved forming molds, propellers for underwater vehicles, and other shaped free surfaces.
Irregular shaped parts refer to parts with irregular shapes, which mostly require mixed processing of multiple workstations, lines, and surfaces. Irregular parts generally have poor rigidity, difficult to control clamping deformation, and difficult to ensure machining accuracy. Even certain machining parts of certain parts are difficult to complete with ordinary machine tools. When using a machining center for processing, reasonable process measures should be taken, such as clamping once or twice, and utilizing the characteristics of mixed processing of multiple workstations, lines, and surfaces on the machining center to complete multiple or all process contents.
Disc sleeves or shaft parts with keyways, radial holes, or surface surfaces with distributed hole systems, such as shaft sleeves with flanges, shaft parts with keyways or square heads, as well as plate parts with more machining holes, such as various motor covers. Vertical machining centers should be selected for disk parts with distributed hole systems and curved surfaces on the end face.
